Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of tabayyun in Surah Al-Hujurat verse 6 based on tafsir studies and analyze its relevance to the dissemination of information in the digital era. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods, through the study of the Qur'an, tafsir books, books, and scientific articles related to tabayyun, Islamic communication ethics, and digital literacy. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive-analytical content analysis techniques. The results show that tabayyun is an information verification principle that emphasizes the importance of checking the source, content, and impact of news before it is accepted or disseminated. In the context of the digital era, the values of tabayyun have very strong relevance as guidelines for communication ethics to prevent the spread of hoaxes, disinformation, slander, and hate speech. The implementation of tabayyun is also in line with the concept of modern digital literacy that prioritizes critical thinking, fact-checking, and responsibility in media use. Therefore, the implementation of tabayyun can be a foundation in building a culture of honest, critical, and responsible communication and support the creation of a more accurate and reliable information ecosystem amidst the development of information technology.
